You Have To Practice Righteousness
Download MP3You Have To Practice Righteousness
Remember we have been sharing how our goal is 100% answered prayer. We’ve shared Scriptures where we see God wants us to know we have what we’ve asked for and how we are to believe we have received what we’ve asked and then we will have it.
We are on a journey to raise our expectations for what’s possible in our relationship with God and through prayer.
In our last episode, we started talking about the righteous person is able to have great power in their prayers.
James 5:16
English Standard Version
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
We also looked at Scriptures that tell us the righteousness we are to stand in as believers in Christ is the righteousness that is of faith, which we receive from Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 3:22 ESV
22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.
Now I want to talk more about this and how to apply it.
1 John 3:4-10 ESV
4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's[a] seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Now we don’t have a lot of time on this show so let me get the the bottom line.
1 John 3:7 says, “Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.”
Now there’s a natural righteousness which means you live according to the Word of God, you do what’s right in God’s eyes. But, none of us can do that perfectly. That’s why there’s another righteousness which is by faith.
Now let’s look at Romans Chapter 10 ESV
3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
The righteousness we practice is living by the Word of God but that’s not the righteousness we stand in. The righteousness we stand in, as a believe, is the righteousness which is by faith in Christ.
That righteousness is practiced by believing what Christ has done for you, thinking about who you are in Christ and confessing that you, because of Jesus, are the righteousness of God.
Let’s read that again.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
What’s our goal? To improve in our prayer life. To become more effective and powerful in prayer. To move towards 100% answered prayer.
To do that, it’s going to take knowing you have been made righteous in Christ, practicing living it out and practicing walking in it by faith with believing and confessing it’s true for you.
Look over these Scriptures and begin to confess what the Scriptures says is true for you. This is how you will grow.
Blessings,
Tim Dumas
