You Have A Testimony And You Need To Use It

Summ ary:

I’ve heard people share their testimony and I’ve heard people say they really don’t have one. I want to say, “Yes you do have one and you need to use it!”

Let’s look at Revelations 12:7-11
7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

Now I want to read Revelations 12:11 from another translation.

Good News Translation
They won the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the truth which they proclaimed

Who does the accuser accuse day and night? Us.
Again and again he speaks of our sin which we are all guilty of but Christ has made a way for us.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Because of the son, because of Jesus. Because of his Redemptive Work on the cross, the shedding of his blood, we can have life.

But there’s another part two this and it’s find in Revelations 12:11

And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Sometimes we think too much of our testimony as being what God got us out of in this life, the things we can see.

We need to understand that’s not the testimony this scripture is talking about.

The overcoming testimony is giving witness, testifying to who Jesus is and what he has done for you!

Romans 10:9 says, “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

If you confess… What’s that. That’s giving witness. That’s testifying. That’s giving a testimony.

Believe Jesus is Lord and give testimony to that truth and that you believe it’s true for you. That’s the testimony that overcomes!

Hebrews 10:23 says, “ Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. “

Hold fast to your confession… That your testimony! We are to hold fast to our testimony about who Jesus is and what he has done for us through his redemptive work!

How do you overcome sickness? You acknowledge what Jesus did and you give testimony to it that it’s true for you!

1 Peter 2:24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

That’s what Jesus did! What’s my testimony? “Jesus bore my sins on the cross so the I can have his righteousness and the wounds he experienced for me provided me healing” I’m healed by his wounds!”

That’s my testimony!

If tomorrow I fall into sin and confess it, what’s my testimony? It’s that he is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness!

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Could it be that I won’t feel forgiven? Maybe but my belief and confession is not based how I feel. It’s based on His Word and his Faithfulness!

We overcome hell by believing Jesus and confessing, giving testimony that Jesus is Lord of our lives.

We overcome in different areas of life by seeing in the Word what God’s will is, what Jesus has done to provide that will and confess, give testimony that it’s true for me!!

This is our testimony… his Word! What it says Jesus has done! All it says Jesus has done!  That’s how we overcome, by given testimony to who Jesus is and what he has done and that it’s true for me!
He is my Lord. He is my savior. By his stripes or wounds I and healed. By his mercy I’m forgiven. By his grace all my needs are provided for.

I confess that. I give testimony to that and I hold fast to my testimony because I believe God and he is faithful!

Blessings in Christ,
