Works of Salvation and Works of Faith
Download MP3Summary:
We do not work for our salvation but we do work our faith. We do act on our faith so that our actions work with what we believe is the will of God.
Scriptures:
Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 9
30 What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness[d] did not succeed in reaching that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works.
The works it’s talking about was keeping the law so that you deserve and qualify to experience the life God has for us.
The works James is talking about is putting action to your faith which is acting on the Word. The Word reveals the will of God and when you receive it as true, it causes faith in you to act on the will of God for it to come to pass.
James 2 AMPC
17 So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).
22 You see that [his] faith was cooperating with his works, and [his] faith was completed and reached its supreme expression [when he implemented it] by [good] works.
26 For as the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from [its] works of obedience is also dead.
Receive God's gift of salvation through faith, acting on and believing the Word.
Blessings in Christ,
