Have you wanted to pray powerful prayers? Who or what type of person can pray powerful prayers?

James 5:16 English Standard Version
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

“The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”

A righteous person can pray powerful prayers. How can we be that type of person? Like all things, it depends on the redemptive work of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:21. English Standard Version
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

NIV
 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

He took our sin and gave us his righteousness.

He made us righteous. Let’s look at what else he has done.

Colossians 1:9-14 English Standard Version
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks[a] to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He made us righteous. He has qualified us to share in all he has for us.  We know mentally this is true but it has to become a reality to us.

It becomes a reality in us by cooperating with God and what he says do.

2 Corinthians 4:13
Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak,

4 Hebrews 10:23 English Standard Version
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Confess you are righteous in Christ. Confess God has qualified you to share in all he has for you.
