When We Call, He Will Answer
Download MP3We’ve been talking about increasing our effectiveness and power in praying and we’ve also talked about increasing our expectation in praying. Why are we doing this? Because it’s God’s will that we ask and receive. It’s God’s will that when we pray, we know we have or will have what we have prayed for. It’s God’s desire, as revealed in Scripture, that this prayer relationship we have with him is one of trust and confidence.
Let’s go over some of our base Scriptures again then I want to talk about a few more.
1 John 5:14-15 ESV
14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Matthew 7:7-8 ESV
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV
20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
John 16:23-24
English Standard Version
23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:24 says, “Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
This is what our God, our Heavenly Father, wants for us. Having a relationship with our Heavenly Father where we can come to him with confidence, asking and knowing we will receive, is what Jesus spoke about. And he spoke about there being joy in this. Amen.
Let’s look at Romans 8:32-33
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Matthew 7:11 English Standard Version
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Psalm 145:18 ESV
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”
Jeremiah 29:12 ESV
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
Psalm 138:3 ESVEnglish Standard Version
On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.
Psalm 34:4 ESV
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 91:15
When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
We have to have confidence in God when praying. We need to know him, his character, his will, his love. We need to know he desires to answer our prayers and fulfill his Word.
