Rooted and Grounded In His Love
Download MP3It goes on to talk about the armor of God which is really the truth about who we are in Christ as revealed in his Word. And of course the sword of the Spirit which is specifically said to be the Word of God. (See Ephesians 6:17)
Sometimes we make things more difficult that needs to be.
Look at the prayer in Ephesians 3
Ephesians 3
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, 19 and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
It’s a prayer to be strengthened with power, that’s connected to the indwelling of Christ and being rooted and grounded in love.
The foundation we need to be strong is love. We are to be rooted and grounded in love.
We pray to be strengthened to know this love but we also know the instructions found in Scripture so that the truth of God’s Word comes real to us.
We honor the Word by receiving it as the Word of God.
1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.
We meditate on it and speak it until it becomes real to us.
Joshua 1:8 NIV “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
John 3:16 tells us God loves us.
Romans 5:8 NIV also states the love of God. “ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 John 4:7-8 says, “ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
God’s love for you is your foundation. That’s what you are to be rooted and grounded in. Think about, meditate on the verses that speak of God’s love for you and confess them as true for you. Thank God for loving you.
This is the truth I go back to over and over again. I’ve been discouraged at times but I can’t ever remember doubting God loves me. It’s my foundation. It’s your foundation.
Meditate on it until God’s love for you is real in your heart.
Blessings in Christ,
Tim Dumas
