Receiving From God With A Steadfast Heart
Download MP3English Standard Version
22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
You’ve believed and ask God to prepare your heart to receive the seed, his Word. Some of the words we see in Scripture that refer to harvest are receive, take hold, growth. All these are talking about expericine God’s will in your life.
Now let’s review just a little.
You’ve planted the Word in your heart and continued to hear and meditate on the Word, which is referred to as watering it.
1 Corinthians 3:6-7 English Standard Version
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Sometimes growth takes time. The Scripture talks a lot about being steady, sticking with it, enduring, persevering and patience.
Matthew 10: 22 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
Now let’s look at two words.
First endures. He that endures.
(It’s the Greek word hypomenō to continue firmly, hold out, remain constant, persevere,)
Secondly saved. Will be saved.
It’s the greek word Sozo which means; heal, preserve, rescue
Once you see/understand a principle in the Scripture, you start to see it more and more often.
Staying with it, enduring, not quitting, persistence… all these things are characteristics of a person walking in faith.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Hebrews 6: ESV
11 And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “Surely I will bless you and multiply you.” 15 And thus Abraham,[b] having patiently waited, obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:12
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
12 …. by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.
We must make a decision to believe and not be double minded. When we make that decision to believe God, you can believe God for the grace to trust him with all your heart and fill you with expectation of his will coming to pass in your life and fill you with joy.
Romans 15:13
English Standard Version
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
We have spent time talking about the heart. Let’s talk some more.
Psalm 108:1
My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my being.
Psalm 112:7 He does not fear bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
Psalm 57
7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
8 Awake, my glory![b]
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
We can have a steadfast heart because of God's steadfast love and faithfulness.
