Pray For Everything And Forgive
Download MP3We have talked a lot about prayer and remember, our goal is 100% answered prayer. Why is that our goal? It’s because scripture after scripture talks about asking and receiving.
There are two main points I want to go over with you today.
First is that prayer should be a way of life.
Matthew 6:11 ESV
“Give us this day our daily bread”
When Jesus was showing his disciples how to pray and what to pray for, he prayed for daily bread.
Do we pray for daily bread. Do we pray daily for the things we need that day or only the things we feel we can provide for ourselves.
How often to we distance ourselves from our provider simply because we feel we can provide for ourselves.
Have you ever been in a relationship with someone you care about and you can just tell they are pulling away from you? That you are no longer on their mind the way you once was?
Do we do that to our Heavenly Father? Yes, we do.
Pray for everything you need in your life. Pray for the ability to achieve what you need to achieve. Don’t pull away from God simply because you feel you can do it on your own and don’t need help. Even your breath is a gift of God.
The second thing I want to share is Matthew 6:12
Matthew 6:12 ESV
“and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Remember Jesus is teaching his disciples what to pray for and how to pray and part of prayer is acknowledging the forgiveness God has given you and in turn forgiving others.
Jesus talks about this again in Mark 11
Mark 11:25 WEB
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.”
Whenever you stand praying, forgive. This is what our Lord and Savior commands us to do.
Do you want to be good at praying? Then you have to be good at forgiving.
Pray for everything, even the daily things you need. Always draw near to God as you acknowledge and depend on Him for everything. Also acknowledge the forgiveness he has shown you, which is found in Christ, and in turn, extend forgiveness to others.
Doing these things is what Jesus has asked of us.
Blessings,
Tim Dumas
