Moved With Compassion
Download MP3 Summary:
Mark 1:40-42 World English Bible
A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.” Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I want to. Be made clean.” When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was made clean.
The leper came knowing Jesus could but questioned his willingness. In our last episode, we talked about how we must have the questions of God’s willingness answered in order for us to have faith that he will fulfill his promises.
Most people don’t question his ability. Some even are sure of his promises and his revealed will in his Word but they still don’t his willingness to act.
In Mark, we see Jesus was moved with compassion. This starts to get into more of the character of God. Does he care? Does he see us? Does he hear us?
There was a point to including in this passaged that Jesus was moved by compassion.
God wants us to know he is a compassionate God.

Isaiah 54:10 New International Version

James 5:11 New International Version
11 As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Let me share with you the definition of Compassion as shared by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. “COMPASSION implies pity coupled with an urgent desire to aid or to spare.”
God feels for us. He hurts for us but he also has an urgent desire to aid us, to do something about our situation.
Scripture shows us over and over that our Lord is full of compassion and mercy. He so desires to fuflill his Word, his Will in our lives. Let’s consider these and similar verses until we have complete assurance that our Lord is full of compassion towards us.
Just thinking about it makes me feel good. Makes my assurance in praying increase and isn’t that what God wants?
Confession:
My God is full of compassion towards me.
Blessings in Christ,
