Romans 10:9-10 ESV
Romans 10:9-10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:9-10 WEB
9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.
There’s a principle here for experiencing what God has for us and that is believing and confessing.
Salvation has been provided for all through the redemptive work of Christ which has already been done. The reason a person has yet to be saved is because they have yet to believe and confess it.
Don’t miss that point. Let me say it again. Salvation has been provided for all through the redemptive work of Christ which has already been done. The reason a person has yet to be saved is because they have yet to believe and confess it.
Believing and confessing is how we come into this salvation and it’s also how we live and walk in it.
Colossians 2:6-7 World English Bible
6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7 New International Version
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
The way you received Christ, walk in him. How did you receive him? You heard and believed the message of Christ and you confessed it as true for you proclaiming him Lord.
It was your heart that believed God raised Jesus from the dead. It was your mouth that confessed Jesus is Lord, your Lord.
We live and walk in this new life by believing the message, the Word of God and confessing it as true for us. Amen!
1 Timothy 6:12 ESV
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
How do you take hold of the life God has for you? By faith. By taking hold of it by faith, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth the truth and reality of God’s will for our lives. By believing and confessing God’s will as revealed by his Word and his Promises!
Over the next several episodes we are going to dive into the Word of God and build our faith concerning how God’s plan is for us to use our belief and confession to take hold of his promises and walk in his revealed will for our lives.
The Scripture we just read, 1 Timothy 6:12 says take hold of this life we are called to and that’s exactly what we are, by God’s grace, going to do. Amen.
Let’s look at Luke 6:43-45
43 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Evil is often referred to in Scripture as that which is not inline with God’s will, or not in faith, a report that goes against what God has said.
Good is that which is inline with God’s will, his truth, his promises believed.
We decide what’s in our hearts but what we focus on and believe whether that’s evil or good and whichever that is in our hearts, it comes forth by our words.
We are going to focus on the Word, Believe the Word, hold it dear in our hearts and begin to see God’s will come to pass in our life as we line up our Words, our confession with God’s Word. We will grow in this new life through believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths. Amen.
