Hold Fast to Your Confession, Part 4
Download MP3If God, through his Word, tells us to hold fast to our confession of hope, then we need to put the same importance on it that God does.
Hebrews 10:23 ESV
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
If God tells us to hold fast to something, then we need to listen. It’s important and we must realize it’s an important part of our life, our living.
Colossians 2:6 ESV
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,
How did you receive Jesus? Believing and confessing.
Confession in Salvation
Romans 10:9-10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
If we were saved by believing and confessing, then that’s how we are to walk in him. Believe his Word, Speak his Word.
I want you to hear what we are told to do in Philippians Chapter 2.
Philippians 2:9-13
9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Work out your salvation, not for. How do we work it out? By confessing what God’s Word says is true about the redeeming work of Christ and who we are in Christ.
Notice verse 12 says work out your own salvation and verse 13 says it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
As we get his Word in our hearts and in our mouths, he uses that to do his Work in us, changing us, changing our desires to be what he desires, molding us, shaping us, empowering us to receive and be who he has called us to be and by his grace through faith do his work for his Glory.
