Hold Fast To Your Confession Part 1

Today we start talking about confession and how it's not only about confessing sin.
Confession means to speak and also carries the meaning to admit, the consent to, to own and agree with.

When we confess our sins, we are agreeing with God that what we did was a sin.
Example 1 John 1:9 ESV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We also confess his will, his promises, his truth. We agree with God about what his will is for us, who God is, what Jesus has done for us and who we are as new creations in Christ.

Hebrews 10:23 ESV
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Some things we can confess.
Romans 10:9-10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

1 Peter 2:24 ESV
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
