Healing Of The Man Who Came Through The Roof, Part 2

The healing of the paralytic is found in Matthew 9:1-8, Mark 2:1-12 and Luke 5:17-26.

Summary:
Four men brought their paralytic friend to Jesus to be healed but the first thing Jesus addressed was sin.

He came for healing but Jesus said to him, “Your sins are forgiven.” I don't know.  The man may have been dealing with feelings of guilt and condemnation. That needed to be dealt with and Jesus did. He pronounced his sins were forgiven. How many have been held back because of guilt.

James 5 says we can be forgiven and  he connects it to healing.
James 5: 14 I"s any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."

Hebrews 8:12
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”

1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

Having a sense of sin and shame can hinder our fellowship with God and our ability to receive what God desires for us to have.

Even after confessing our sins, agreeing with God what we did was a sin, we can still carry that shame which can hinder our faith, our ability to take hold of God’s promises.

We walk by faith not by sight the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:7.

By faith we need to accept what God’s Word has said about ourselves.

Back to 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God forgives and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. There is no reason for shame any more.

Now look at 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

According to Scripture, once we have confessed the sin, he forgives and cleanses.
According to Scripture, God made Christ to be sin (our sin) so that we could be made the righteousness of God.

Now since we walk by faith, we make our confession of faith. “I am forgiven. I am cleansed of all unrighteousness. I have been made righteous. I’m in right standing with my Heavenly Father in Christ”.

If you will confess this truth, it will change you and help you receive what God has for you as revealed in his Word.
