Healing By God’s Word
Download MP3“He sends his word, and heals them, and delivers them from their graves.”
Some translations read he sent his Word and Healed them but I believe this translation makes it clear. Yes, he sent his Word for our healing.
Now this goes back to John Chapter 1
John 1 WEB
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us.
So we know the Word refers to what we know as the Word of God but it also refers to Jesus Himself.
Jesus came to save us. Amen. He came to pay the penalty for our sins so that we can have forgiveness and new life in Christ in a relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Part of the receptive work Jesus did for us was not only forgiveness of sin but healing of the body.
1 Peter 2:24 WEB
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
I want to focus on healing in the Word and by the Word.
Let’s start by looking at what Peter was sharing in Acts 11.
12 The Spirit told me to go with them, without discriminating. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house. 13 He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa, and get Simon, who is called Peter, 14 who will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house.’
Saved is a translation into English from the Greek Word (sōzō)
According to Strong’s Concordance (sōzō) means:
to save, rescue; to preserve safe and unharmed, to cure, heal, restore to health, to save, preserve from being lost, to deliver from, set free from, to rescue from unbelief, convert, to be in the way of salvation.
All of these things God wants to do in us, which through his redemptive work, Jesus has already provided for us, comes through the hearing of his Word.
Now I want you to see the Scripture makes it clear that the Word of God is healing to us.
Proverbs 4 WEB
20 My son, attend to my words.
Turn your ear to my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from your eyes.
Keep them in the center of your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them,
and health to their whole body.
I want you to hear this same passage from the AMPC
20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.
Vese 22 in the Jubilee Bible reads,
“For they are life unto those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.”
And now from the Young’s Literal Translation
Verse 22 “For life they The Word [are] to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing.
One reason we know that Healing is God’s will is that his Word itself is healing. His Word is health to us. His Word is like Medicine to our bodies.
Now I’m going to stop here today and say you have to make a decision. What are you going to believe about the Word of God. Are you going to accept what God says about his Word, that it is life, healthy and healing to us? Are you going to accept that when you read, meditate on and speak God’s Word that healing and life is being imparted to your body. Are you going to take hold of this truth for yourself and claim it by faith that God’s Word is life and health to you?
I trust that you will. Just confess it’s true for you and thank God for it.
