He Had Faith To Be Made Whole
Download MP3Acts 14:5-10
5 When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to mistreat them and to stone them 6 they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region. 7 There they preached the Good News. 8 At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked. 9 He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, 10 said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked.
The lame man had faith to be healed.
Why did he have faith? How did he have faith?
He was listening to Paul and Paul was preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Remember Romans 10:17 “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17 in other translations read, hear the message of Christ or the Good News about Christ.
Paul was preaching the message of Jesus and from that this man had faith to be healed.
What does that tell you about the message of Christ that Paul preached? It must have included healing is God’s will right? That’s the only way he could have had faith to be healed. Preaching just on forgiveness will not produce faith to be healed but preaching on healing will.
Paul might have preached from Psalm 103
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me,bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
Paul may have preached Isaiah 53:4-5
4 Surely he has borne our sickness
and carried our suffering;
yet we considered him plagued,
struck by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions.
He was crushed for our iniquities.
The punishment that brought our peace was on him;
and by his wounds we are healed.
The message of Christ that Paul preached included healing!
Blessings in Christ,
