Growing In The Nature of Christ Part 2
Download MP3We are called to be partakers of the divine nature, the life of God in us!
God Has Ordained That We Take Partake of the Divine Nature
2 Peter 1:3-4 ESV
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life (Zoe - Life of God) and godliness (eusebeia- godliness or devotion), through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
*NIV translates 2 Peter 1:3 as “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life” The took two separate words with different meanings and combined them. They shouldn’t have done that because it lost the true meaning.
It’s by God’s promises that we partake of his nature. The promise is he has already given us all things that pertain to life, Zoe, his life, his love, his peace, his power his nature.
Hebrews 6:12 says be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
I shared with you about confessing love. Another example of a powerful confession about what God has made true in our lives by the redemptive work of Christ is a confession of righteousness.
Example: Righteousness
2 Corinthians 5:21
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Remember in James 5:16 it says the prayer The prayer of a righteous person has great power (availeth much) as it is working.
One way to increase the power of your prayer life, is to confess what God has done in you concerning making you the righteousness of God.
Find out what God has said is true about you through the redemptive work of Christ and begin to agree with him in your confession of faith. In doing so, you will stir up the gift of God in you and you will start to see the manifestation of it in your life.
