Summary: 

In our last episode, we talked about the principles of growing in the things of God. 

Let’s go back and look at the basic principles of growing in the things of God and successfully being who God has called us to be.

 

Joshua 1:7-9 NIV

7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

 

Here's the main points of success.

 

Be strong and courageous because God is with you.

Meditate on the Word which includes speaking it. Have it always on your lips.

This enables you to do what the Word says which leads to you prospering and being a success in being and do all God has for you.

 

We talked about how we see even throughout the New Testament the practice of confessing the Word.

 

Hebrews 10:23 Young's Literal Translation

23 may we hold fast the unwavering profession of the hope, (for faithful [is] He who did promise),

 

Now let’s talk a little more on meditating on the Word and confessing the Word.

 

The Scripture talks about renewing the mind.

 

Romans 12:2

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

 

We are called not to let this world transform us. Another way to say this is to not be assimilated by the pattern or way of this world. 

Instead, we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

 

Transformed into what?

2 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

 

We renew our minds by the revealed will of God “his Word” which transforms us into his image. 

 

The more we are in His Word, think about his Word, yield to his Word by confessing it as true for you and acting on it, we become more like Him.
