God is Generous - Part 2
Download MP3Summary:
The Scripture says God is generous.
If you need to ask of someone and you hear they are generous, how does that effect you? Does it make you at ease? Does it give you hope? Does it give you confidence?
God wants us to know he is generous.
Why does the Scripture reveal God is generous? God wants us to know him and he reveals himself through his Word. He is generous. He wants us to know he is generous. He invites us to come, to ask, to believe he will be generous in his response. This grows faith!
Our faith isn’t only in God’s promise. It’s in God. We’ve got to know the promise but we’ve also got to know God!
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. - James 1:5 ESV
It’s almost like James is bragging on who his Heavenly Father is.
Let's look at James 1:5 in the Amplified Bible:
"If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of [a]the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him."
God is generous! He gives liberally! He is not looking for a reason to not give to you! He is not looking to find fault in you. He is looking for those who have a heart that loves and trust him.
He has a full supply and has no thought about conserving. His goodness, mercy and blessings towards us is limited less! How much do you need? He is willing to meet your need and exceed it. This is who our God is!
I looked up some definitions of generous and would like to share them with you.
Generous:
- showing readiness to give
- showing kindness to others
- larger or more plentiful than is usual or necessary.
Glory to God. Our God is all of these things!
When we understand the goodness and generosity of our God, then our faith will grow. It's knowing a person that allows you to have faith in them.
I want to share with you some passages to help us know the heart of God, his generous and giving heart!
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, - Ephesians 3:20 ESV
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! - Matthew 7:11 ESV
Now I want to share with you a portion of Ephesians 1 from the Amplified Bible.
7 In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,
8 Which He lavished upon us in every kind of wisdom and understanding (practical insight and prudence)
We serve a generous God! Here are some more scriptures.
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? - Romans 8:32 ESV
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. - 1 Timothy 6:17
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. - Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, - 2 Peter 1:3
Believe and rejoice in the truth that our Heavenly Father is a generous and giving God!!
