Four Pillars For Healing

Download MP3
Today we will review what I consider to be the 4 pillars of scripture we need to know so our faith can be strong for healing.

 Summary:

Exodus 15:26 (ESV) for I am the Lord, your healer.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (ESV)  4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

Here Isaiah is prophesying by the Spirit of God about Jesus, the Savior of the Word taking the punishment for our sins providing both forgiveness and healing. We see quite often in scripture where forgiveness and healing are put together.

Matthew 8:14-17 14  And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

Now we know it was clear in Isaiah 53 it says by his wounds we are healed but some will tell you that means spiritual or emotional wounds. It’s true that God heals the brokenhearted but as you can see from this passage in Matthew, Jesus provides healing for the physical body too.

Let me point something else out. Matthew 8:17 says, “This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”  This is referring to Isaiah 53:4. I’ve already showed that to you from the English Standard version which read, “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;”  Matthew is showing us what it rightly means, “took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

Here is Isaiah 53:4 from the Youngs Literal Translation
“Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains -- he hath carried them”

Jesus took our sicknesses! He took our diseases! Healing is his will and Matthew proves that beyond any doubt!

1 Peter 2:24 (ESV) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Move away from and leave behind any opinion you may have concerning God and healing and get into faith which is based only on the Word of God. His Word reveals his will and it has revealed his will for healing. God is our Healer. Christ provided healing by taking sin and sickness upon him and by His wounds we are healed!

Memorize these 4 pillars of healing. Meditate on them until they become pillars of your faith. Become strong in faith regarding healing. Become strong in the Word. Let him make you strong!

Blessings in Christ,
Tim Dumas
