Summary:

If you are not in some type of trouble where you need to fight now you soon will be. I’m not being negative, I'm saying what Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33 

 

We are going to talk about fighting today but not just fighting, we are going to talk about winning.

We are called to be more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37)

 

1 Timothy 6:12 English Standard Version

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life (zoe) to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

 

We fight to take hold. We fight to take hold of the life he has for us to live and walk in. We fight to take hold of and experience his will for our lives and for others to do so too.

 

Zoe, the life of God is the same word used in John 10:10

John 10:10 English Standard Version

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

 

We Fight By Knowing his Word and Acting on it

 

How do we take hold of this life God has for us in this present life? Through his promises by faith.

 

2 PeteR 1:3-4 English Standard Version

3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

It is the promises of God that show us what God's will is and it's by believing and acting on those promises that we take hold of those promises and experience the life God has for us.
