Believing To Know God For Who He Says He Is
Download MP3We are to desire and believe to know God for who He says He is. We do this by faith.
Psalm 91 NLT
Psalm 91 NLT
9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
How do you make the Lord your refuge?
Here’s what we need to understand. The Lord is a refuge. We are not making him a refuge, we are making him our refuge by believing that’s what he is for us.
Psalm 91 NLT
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
It’s a confession of faith in which we believe and yield ourselves to the truth of who God is, accepting Him as who he is for us.
It’s how we get saved according to Romans 10:9-10
Romans 10:9-10 NLT
9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
God will be for us who he reveals himself to be if we will accept his truth for ourselves and confess it to be so.
Jesus is Lord no matter what a person thinks or does. But, if a person will believe it’s true and confess it’s true for them, then Jesus becomes Lord to them.
Whoever God reveals himself to be, honor him and accept him to be that for you and make confessing that truth in faith part of your living.
Isaiah 54:13 NLT says, “I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace.”
When I pray, I begin by honoring God and acknowledging God for who he is in my life, for who I believe him to be in my life according to his Word.
I say, “Father, I honor you as my Healer, Provider, Protector and Teacher of my Children.”
You see he has said he is these things and I want to know him as my Father, Healer, Provider, Protector and Teacher of my children causing them to enjoy great peace.”
I say it every day because I want to live a life of knowing him this way. I believe I can because I see it in his Word.
Now if I’m not experiencing it daily, then does that mean I change my mind? No. If what I believe wasn’t based on God’s Word my mind would change but God doesn’t change. His Word is everlasting. So my belief doesn’t change based on the circumstances.
I’m asking you today to begin to confess God is who he reveals himself to be and he is this in your life. Confess him as Lord of your life. Confess him as your Healer, your Provider and your Protector. If you have children, confess him as the Teacher of your children and great shall be their peace.
