Ephesians 6

We’ve known to connect the Sword of the Spirit to the Word of God but I think we have missed that all of the armor is connected to the Word. The Armor is the truth of God we are to believe, hold onto and act upon as revealed in his Word.

If we are going to be strong in the Lord, we must grow in the Word of God.

How did Jesus stand against the devil in the wilderness? He kept quoting the Word.

Psalm 119:28 English Standard Version

My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!

1 Corinthians 16:13 ESV  

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV 

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Being Strong on the Lord is being strong in the Word. It’s knowing what the Word says and holding on to it in what you believe, what you do and what you confess.

The power of God in our lives is connected to the Word the Message, The Gospel of Christ.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

”For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.“

Romans 1:16 ESV

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

The Word of the Gospel is the power of God for salvation and for living out the life God has for us. 

2 Peter 2:1-4

1 Simeon[a] Peter, a servant[b] and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[c] his own glory and excellence,[d] 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

Being strong, immovable and steadfast in the Lord is being strong in the Word.
